Polymer PMMA
Polymer PMMA
What It Is & Characteristics
Polymer with best-in-class transparency and strong chemical resistance.
PMMA or acrylic resin has excellent light transmittance properties and has good resistance to acid and environmental deterioration. PMMA can be processed through extrusion or cell casting. The cell casting process produces resultant properties that are much improved over extrusion processed PMMA. The surface hardness of PMMA is one of the highest of all the plastics.
Typical Uses
PMMA is used where excellent light transmittance is required. Automotive taillights and light fixtures utilize PMMA. In composite structures, PMMA imparts a high gloss look to items like spas and bathtubs. Because of its excellent weatherability, PMMA is also used in advertisement signage. Cell cast versions of the product are used for fixed and rotary-wing cockpit windshields, medical device applications where precise routing is required or where the product is designed to be implanted.
Sustainability. The Key To Future Value.
We have placed sustainability, environment, social and governance (ESG) issues at the very center of our focus. Not simply to comply with regulations and standards, but to drive true change that transforms tomorrow. This, we believe, is how real value is created.
