Polypropylene Compounds for Extrusion
& Blow Molding

These filled, extrusion grade polypropylene compounds combine an excellent balance of properties with good processibility and low cost. The materials utilize various mineral fillers and reinforcements and are available in a range of melt flows to process well in sheet extrusion, thermoforming, profile extrusion, and blow molding operations. Most of these compounds are available with full FDA approval for food contact applications. We also have a full line of polypropylene compounds for use in the injection molding process.

The following charts highlight some of our more standard materials.

Filled Homopolymer

Filled homopolymer polypropylenes provide the highest level of stiffness and heat resistance of filled olefins. Talc filled grades offer the highest strength properties, while calcium carbonate filled grades offer an excellent balance of stiffness and impact resistance. Typical applications include extrusion/thermoformed food containers, and profile extruded and blow molded structural parts.

Filled and Reinforced Copolymer

Filled copolymers offer a higher level of impact performance than homopolymer materials, and higher stiffness than unfilled copolymers. Copolymer based materials retain much of their impact strength at low temperatures. Typical applications include thermoformed frozen food containers, extruded and blow molded automotive and construction materials, and blow molded recreational equipment.
