Packalloy MLB™

Developed for the thin-gauge packaging market, Packalloy MLB™ is the name given to our multi-layered sheet products that can be customized to meet a variety of requirements. Up to five layers of thin-gauge thermoplastic sheet can be combined to meet the particular specifications for oxygen and water rate transmission.

Although other two-layer barrier products exist, Packalloy MLB™ is the only multi-layered product that combines the attributes of various engineered resins.

Due to the unique, multiple product structures of this material, test results will vary based on the specific barrier layers used. This product is custom-designed to meet customers' end-use specifications.

Packalloy MLB (Saran® - PVDC)

This product is FDA approved for direct food/medical contact and has proven successful in two five-layer versions:

• HIPS/Saran®/LDPE and
• HIPS/Saran®/HIPS

It is primarily targeted for form/fill/seal packaging applications as the finished packages can be structured to have totally fused seals that peel easily. Typically designed to extend the shelf life of its contents, applications for Packalloy MLB packages include shelf-stable aseptic food products, medical packages, and specialty industrial products.

Packalloy MLB (EVOH)

This product line was developed for the shelf-stable packaging marketplace, including both hot fill, aseptic, and retort applications. Customized product designs help to provide desired rigidity (talc filling), hot fill, and in-package sterilization (retort) capabilities. Specialized food and medical packaging designs provide the major markets, as this material is FDA approved for food/medical contact. Many containers are manufactured as pre-forms and many feature reintroduction of compatible trim materials as internal layer components. Certain polypropylene resins provide for excellent low temperature impact resistance, while still affording microwave heating capabilities.

		Packalloy MLB is an advanced material and part of our Green Initiative program. This multi-layer polypropylene material requires significantly less energy to produce and sterilize as well as a fraction of the material needed for glass jars.
