Multi-Layer Sheet

Multi-layer sheet is used for creating high barrier packaging containers commonly used in Aseptic, Hot Fill, and Retort packaging applications. With the capability to extrude up to 9-layers, Spartech can create both rollstock and containers with very strong oxygen and moisture vapor transmission protection for product sensitive and long-term shelf life applications.

Multi-layer sheet can be made with either symmetrical (as shown below) or asymmetrical structure configurations to meet the customized needs of a broad variety of applications. EVOH or Saran barrier materials are extruded and capped with materials such as polypropylene creating a package with barrier protection and superior organoleptic properties. Other materials can be incorporated to enhance the rigidity or other aspects of the package. Regrind can even be extruded into the sheet structure to provide material cost reductions.

Materials

Spartech manufactures rigid packaging sheet and rollstock in a variety of materials including Polystyrene, High Density and Low Density Polyethylene, RPET, APET, EVOH, PVDC, Polypropylene (including HoPP and CoPP), K-Resin®, PETG, and other custom materials.
