Packaging

As an industry leader in the high performance rigid plastic packaging market segment, Spartech offers experience, innovation, and knowledge to meet today's diverse packaging needs. Developing and engineering the right materials and material structures for specific applications ranging from multi-layer barrier materials to mono-layer structures, requires understanding of the product and customers needs.

In order to provide economic and sustainable value, consideration is always given to incorporating extrusion & post thermoforming regrind materials into the structure when possible, to make better use and reuse of these materials. All of our packaging materials are fully recyclable.

Our products are used in various applications that have been recognized for being environmentally friendly:

Packalloy TPX in Food Packaging
Packalloy TPX is a polypropylene alloy that replaces thicker alternative materials. The result is the use of less materials which means less waste. Packalloy is also 100% recyclable.

Packalloy TFPP in Food Packaging
Packalloy TFPP is an Olefin alloy that is engineered to go from "freezer to microwave" and ultimately be used as one-serve dinner ware. This multi-functional product reduces the need for multiple containers to serve the various needs (freeze, heat in the microwave, eat off of) and the associated cleaners and water required to clean these multiple containers. In addition, Packalloy TFPP is fully recyclable.

Packalloy MLB for Packaging
Baby Food

Packalloy MLB is a multilayer Polypropylene material that was designed for use as a food container. It has replaced the traditional glass baby food jars. The result is not only a more environmentally friendly alternative, but a safer product as well.

Packalloy MLB requires less than one-third the energy to produce, a lowered need for sterilization and the associated energy, less than half the packaging material to protect it from breaking, and about 60% of the fuel to ship it than the traditional glass jars.

Personal safety is another reason for transitioning to Packalloy MLB. As with the transition from glass to plastic soda bottles, a dropped container no longer means sharp glass and wasted contents to clean up.

Regrind Material Utilization
Packaging materials manufactured by Spartech are designed for specific applications ranging from high barrier to mono-layer products. Some of the most complex structures we produce are our coextruded multi-layer barrier and non barrier products used for shelf stable and high performance applications. The design of these structures in addition to application performance is the sustainability of the materials, incorporating both post extrusion and thermoforming "regrind" back into the product.
