| In February 2005, Spartech Plastics announced that its Muncie, Indiana location was named a member to the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) National Environmental Performance Track (NEPT). The Muncie Indiana location marked the fifth Spartech location accepted into the program. The target areas for environmental improvement include innovative equipment design to reduce waste related to raw material consumption, reduced packaging material use and disposal, minimization of non-hazardous waste generation and disposal, and reduced energy consumption. The Muncie team is confident that the above targeted improvements will have a positive impact on both the environment as well as the profitability of the facility. | |
| Spartech Introduces Sheet Products Made from GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified Materials On September 20, 2006, Spartech Corporation announced that it has introduced three new co-polyester sheet products made from GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified materials. These products, Ultra Tuf CX, Spectar Clear, and Solarex SV, are extruded with Eastman Chemical Company’s copolyester plastics resins and comply with the stringent chemical emission guidelines set forth by the Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI). | Spartech Receives Environmental Stewardship Award for "New Technology in Processes" for its Low-E Poly Multi-Layer Alloy Material. The Global Plastics Environmental Conference, a division of the Society of Plastics Engineers, has chosen Spartech as the winner of their "Environmental Stewardship Award for New Technology in Processes" for development of Low-E Poly, a multilayer structure that was designed for use in fuel tanks, to dramatically reduce evaporative emissions of gasoline, diesel fuel and oils. USEPA NEPT Membership The NEPT (National Environmental Performance Track) is a voluntary program sponsored by the USEPA. NEPT Rewards facilities whose environmental performance goes "beyond compliance." This organization consists of an elite group of manufacturing facilities of just over 350 members in the entire US. ISO 14001 ISO 14001 is a voluntary structured system for defining, reviewing and assuring compliance of production facilities with regulatory requirements. Currently 20 of our facilities are ISO 14001 certified and several other facilities have similar practices in place. This process allows us to not simply comply with regulatory requirements but to reach beyond compliance and target environmental excellence.
