Building & Construction

Spartech offers a broad range of products for the building and construction market segments. Many of these materials end up in applications that either conserve energy or replace less environmentally friendly products.

UltraTuf CX in Skylights
UltraTuf CX is a polyester alloy that has both the clarity and impact characteristics required of the skylight industry. By utilizing skylights in a building, there is less dependence on electrical lighting during daylight hours, resulting is reduced energy consumption. The production of UltraTuf CX utilizes less than half the energy of producing glass, and is a safer material than glass. UltraTuf CX is also half the weight of glass at equal thickness, reducing freight costs throughout the distribution chain.

UltraTuf CX in Lighting
UltraTuf CX has been used in the lighting industry (light cover). It replaced a material that had up to 10% scrap due to breakage in manufacturing and shipping. Breakage and scrap was eliminated with UltraTuf CX, forming cycle times were reduced by 20%, protective packaging materials were reduced by 15%, and freight costs were reduced by being able to fit more pieces in a truck. On several fronts, UltraTuf CX helped this application to truly minimize the impact on the environment.

UltraTuf CX is extruded from Eastman's TiGlaze ST resin which is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified.

Enviro-Guard in Tub Surrounds
Enviro-Guard is a unique anti-microbial additive that can be used in tub surrounds, spas, and other applications. Use of this additive not only reduced or eliminated mold and mildew growth, but also helps to reduce the frequency with which a tub surround needs to be cleaned. Less frequent cleanings result in reduced usage of cleaning chemicals and water.

Solarex SV
Solarex SV is an advanced alloy that has both the clarity and impact characteristics required of the skylight industry. By utilizing skylight in a building, there is less dependence on electrical lighting during daylight hours, resulting is reduced energy consumption. The production of Solarex SV utilizes less than half the energy of producing glass, and is a safer material than glass. Solarex SV is also half the weight of glass at equal thickness, reducing freight costs throughout the distribution chain.

Solarex SV is extruded from materials that are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified.
