Handling & Care of Korad Laminates

Korad laminates will retain their original beauty with reasonable handling and care.

DO's and DON'TS

DO'S

  • Dust and clean Korad with a soft, damp cloth or chamois, wiping the surface gently.
  • Use pure soap and lukewarm water. Other cleaning agents are listed below.
  • Dry the surface after washing and rinsing, by blotting with a damp cloth or chamois.
  • Wax the surfaces sparingly for protection and the highest degree of polish. Apply one of the recommended commercial waxes (listed below) sparingly in a thin, even film, with a soft, clean cloth.
  • Polish waxed surfaces lightly with a clean cotton flannel or jersey. After polishing, wipe gently with a damp cloth to ground any electrostatic charges which may attract dust particles.
DON'TS
  • Do not use cloths containing grit or abrasive particles, or kitchen scouring compounds to dust or clean Korad film. Light scratches may be rubbed out with Simonize wax (see below).
  • Do not subject Korad laminates to hard, direct blows.
  • Do not use boiling water, strong solvents or other materials listed below to clean Korad film, as they will soften the plastic.

Repairing Korad Laminates

Dirt & Grease
Normal liquid cleaners or soap/water may not remove this type dirt. Janitor in a Drum and Cascade were found to be the best cleaners to remove ground-in dirt & grease.

Stains
Stains such as iodine may be safely removed with 45% Isopropanol rubbing alcohol. The higher concentration commercial grades will also remove the stain, but will dull the film surface. The gloss can be restored with Simonize wax.

Surface Scratches & Abrasions
Light scratches can be removed by waxing with Simonize paste wax. Deeper scratches may be removed by lightly buffing with a fine grade of rubbing compound.

Graffiti
Graffiti may be removed by wiping the affected area with a 1:1 mixture of mineral spirits and undiluted household cleanser such as Mr. Clean or Top Job.
