Extruded Specialty Products

Spartech PEP cellulose acetate sheet is used extensively in the production of safety face shields because of its excellent optical quality and durability.

In the extrusion cast film process, films as thin as 0.003" and 60" wide are produced on single screw extrusion lines. Three-roll calendarizing is optional with most films being cast onto mirror finish chrome rolls. Specialized embossing rolls are used, in some instances to produce precisely matted surfaces for use in premium printing applications such as acetate playing cards. PEP is the worldwide leader in the production of cellulose acetate, cellulose butyrate, cellulose propionate and ethyl cellulose film and sheet. Korad® acrylic films are produced using the cast process when the application requires superior clarity and low shrinkage.

Acetate Sheet

Cellulose Acetate sheets of world class optical quality are used for safety-ware such as faceshields, health care visors, goggles, sports visors, sunglasses, etc. For over 50 years, PEP has been the largest supplier of these materials worldwide. Thicknesses of 0.015" to 0.125" are produced in high gloss, matte or as-extruded finishes.

Plate Polished Cellulose Acetate Butyrate & Cellulose Propionate Sheets

Cellulose Acetate Butyrate and Cellulose Propionate sheets are produced for the optical sports (ski-goggles) and recreation (swimming goggles) markets, as well as the drawing template industry. These sheets are produced in thicknesses from 0.015" to 0.060" clear as well as a variety of transparent colors. Optical polishing using either high gloss or matte surfaced plates is accomplished using 600 ton hydraulic platen presses.

Cellulosic Rolls

Cellulose Acetate, Cellulose Butyrate and Cellulose Propionate, as well as Ethyl Cellulose are produced in rolls ranging in gauge from 0.005" to 0.025". These materials are used in shoelace tipping, military ordnance and specialty lamination markets.

Polished Vinyl (PVC) Sheets

Polished PVC sheets are produced in clear, transparent or opaque colors. Thicknesses ranging from 0.010" to 0.125" are standard. Highly polished or matte finished surfaces are offered. Graphic arts, business cards, displays and letter stock are typical applications.

Polished Cellulose Triacetate Sheet

Polished Cellulose Triacetate Sheet for industrial face shields and other applications is the product of choice when impact strength, resistance to extreme elevated temperatures and harsh chemical environments and optical clarity are demanded. Sheet thicknesses range from 0.030" to 0.060".
